A thermograph uses a paper chart fixed to a rotating drum to provide a continuous record of changes in ambient temperature. It is the ideal instrument to provide a permanent record of temperature changes when or where this information is important. A thermohygrograph provides a continuous record of both temperature and relative humidity. Both instruments record the change by drawing an ink trace on a recording chart.
